David Zambrano - Flying - Low Dance Technique
For over 27 years, David Zambrano has been a monumental figure in the international dance community, and his passion for cultural exchange continues to influence his work. Living and making work in Amsterdam and teaching/performing internationally, Zambrano is an ambassador and liaison across many borders, bringing together artists from all over the planet for his projects. An inspiring teacher, thrilling performer, and innovative choreographer, Zambrano has contributed generously to the field of dance in ways that have influenced many and impacted the dance world from several angles. His development of the "Flying Low" and "Passing Through" techniques are among his recent innovations that have helped to lead improvisational dance into an exciting future. Many of his projects have continuously influenced Zambrano‚s pedagogic methods, keeping them fresh and interesting for the students from around the globe. He was awarded a Guggenheim Fellowship for Choreography last year 2010.
This workshop focuses mainly on the dancer’s relationship with the floor. The class utilizes simple movement patterns that involve breathing, speed and the release of energy throughout the body in order to activate the relationship between the center and the joints, moving in and out of the ground more efficiently by maintaining a centered state. There is a focus on the skeletal structure that will help improve the dancers physical perception and alertness. The class includes partnering work and movement phrases, which explore the primary laws of physics: cohesion and expansion.

Ben Fury – Morocco - Repertoire van Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui
Ben Fury (°1976, Morocco) developed his own technique as a breakdancer at the Ravenstein Gallery in Brussels and continued his training with companies like Yvan Bertem, Said Ouadrassi and Yphun Chiem with whom he founded the Hip Hop dance group Mad Spirit. He was part of the third generation of the Dynamics team. He won several competitions in Europe, including the Battle of Benelux in 2001. His first experience with mixing breakdance and contemporary dance was K’DAR (Hush Hush Hush company). Since then he has danced with Bud Blumenthal, Fatou Traoré, Roberto Olivan and Mauro Pacagnella. He joined Eastman, the dance company of Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui in 2010 as a dancer in “Babel”. He has been invited as a teacher to several dance companies and workshops in Europe.
During the workshop you will be confronted with Eastman’s dance vocabulary, using repertory of the company. Ben Fury will build up a dance phrase from the performance “Babel”. His workshop mixes contemporary dance and breakdance. Starting point is their common ground, floor work. He proposes a mix between dance and acrobatics on the ground with a quick, dynamic energy. This will lead into creating longer sequences and adapt them to the music.

Kristel Decat – België / Yoga
My dancer’s background has inspired me to take into account the specific needs and expectations of a dancer. In my classes the subtle power of Power Yoga (stemming from Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga by Pattabhi Joïs) and the graceful transitions of Vinyasa Flow match perfectly. As such the dancers experience a completely different control over body and breathing. Through my knowledge of Yin Yoga we can achieve more room in the joints, by using the specific stretching method of Yin Yoga.
My classes are a combination of several types of yoga but they are always based on Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga by Pattabhi Joïs in which I have obtained an internationally accepted degree (RYS200) -
Natascha Pire – Hedendaagse dans
As a creator and dancer/actor Natascha is truly fascinated by the story and personal language of the body. This season with Dirk De Lathouwer she has created the performance Everland (fABULEUS), in cooperation with guest choreographers Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, Randi De Vlieghe, Mike Alvarez, Christophe Lequesne,... Among others Natascha is a teacher / choreographer at CODARTS, Amsterdam Dance Centre, etc. Her contemporary dance style is at once dynamic and articulated, with especially Limon and release technique as a basis. She departs from a personal and organic body language, that plays with contrast, energy, dynamics and tension lines, with a great preference for ground work.
